Captain Robbie GibsonRobert “Robbie” Gibson, affectionately called ‘Thunderbird’ by his friends, is a native Crooked Islander. At an early age he developed the love for boating and fishing. Coming from a lineage of boat builders and seafaring men, he competed with his siblings as to who would catch the most fish. He spent a few of his early years residing at Bird Rock Lighthouse with his uncle, Ulric, who was the lighthouse keeper for many years. Robbie has been referred to by many as one of Crooked Island’s ambassadors. His love for people and his warm personality has connected him to people from all walk of life. His dream during his childhood was to become a professional fisherman and to manage his own business.

Robbie now is a certified scuba diver has over fifteen years of sport fishing experience under his belt. He has participated in fishing shows like, ‘Spanish Fly‘, which is aired in ESPN 2 and has been featured in fishing magazines such as: Florida Sportsman and Field n’ Stream. He offers exclusive 40-foot wall dives and wreck dives for small groups up to 10 persons; deep-sea fishing and reef fishing for snappers and mutton fish, using live bait; boating tours to visit the iguanas at Fish Cay, flamingos on Long Cay, and the caves, which are 2-3 miles deep; plus snorkeling in interesting locales, such as the battleship wreck off Long Cay. One of his unique offerings is a full-day picnic tour, where you can line fish or dive for your lunch (conch, fish, and lobster) and it is cooked on a grill at the beach. All trips are aboard a ( kind of boat). There are no age restrictions.
